Ahava

Kodem kol...I'm really sorry to everybody who wants to see pictures, but uploading them will have to wait until I'm in a place with better internet connection than what I have now. It takes too long to upload even a single t'munah (picture).

So Monday was Tu B'Av, the 15th of the month of Av, and the Hebrew holiday of love! Since the Hebrew calendar is lunar, and the holiday is on the fifteenth, there is always a full moon. In the time of the Tanach, it was customary for girls to dress up in white dresses and sing and dance in the moonlight. The boys would watch them and couple up, and there would be lots of weddings. Lazar was really sweet and got me a gift, but I didn't dress up or dance in the moonlight.

On Monday I also saw a family friend, Rosa, and her daughter Sharon. We know Rosa because she and her family lived on Kibbutz Chanaton with my family from 1989-1990. We moved back to the States after a year, but Rosa made aliyah (moved to Israel). She and Sharon had been travelling in the States, and they saw my parents, who gave them a giant suitcase to bring back for me. So she came on Monday, brought me my suitcase, and took me to Nesher, the town nearby. It was nice to see another familiar face, somebody I've known longer than a month.

Yesterday we had a pizza pool party, and the whole ulpan was at the pool, which was nice. We had a volleyball tournament, we threw the manager of the ulpan into the pool, and my kibbutz family was there so I got to spend a good bit of time with them.

My birthday is in exactly one month!
And today is mine and Lazar's one-month anniversary!
